Historic Timeline

BVL HPR will compile a general timeline of the structure’s history, from construction to today. To do so, BVL HPR will investigate property deeds, city/federal records, newspapers, maps, photography and vertical files found at local archival repositories. The timeline will highlight the building’s ownership, use and structural evolution, as well as include an overview of the individuals associated with the building over time. This service is intended to provide a clear and concise understanding of the facts surrounding the existence of the structure.

The research is presented in a professionally designed timeline that will also include all images and significant documents uncovered during the investigation. The client will receive both a digital and printed copy. The printed copy is formally bound.

For example, the story of significant individuals or events will be elaborately explored and highlighted as it pertains to the overall history of not just the property and Charleston but also of the state and nation. This timeline is more in-depth than the option above and allows for additional time to investigate the building’s evolution, historic residents and noteworthy events or eras.

Hardcover History Book

This service showcases the building’s entire story and leaves no stone unturned. BVL HPR will conduct a full history of both the structure and the overall property, documenting the lot from the first land grant to current day. Consulting local, state and national archives, BVL HPR will produce an in-depth architectural evolution and historic research investigation by highlighting each owner and use of the building from the date of construction to current day, uncovering cartographic and photographic evidence of the property, assessing the building’s significance in the greater historic context of both Charleston and America and detailing unique historic facts associated with the building or residents. The report will be in narrative from, transforming the facts from the investigation into a well-written story that powerfully humanizes the building and property using facts and historic context. The hardcover book will contain a brief timeline in the beginning, a detailed historic narrative with figures and photographs as the body and appendices with additional imagery and documentation at the end.
